Interview with Matthau Mikojan

finnbands: You are working on your solo project right now. What will it be about - what can people expect?
Matthau: Well, I'm real proud of the album. It is much better than I expected and I had a lot of fun recording it. I wanted it to sound pure and a little retro (60's and 70's sound). Altogether this is a rock'n'roll album and it really looks like me.

finnbands: Who is playing in your live band and can you imagine that those musicians will be a full part of this project one day, and not for live gigs only?
Matthau: Teemu Broman is on the bass, one hell of a bass player by the way... Simo Stenman in on the drums (he also plays on the record) and Christus joined me on the other guitar.
For now it's only a live band besides we all have other projects and everything but who knows what tomorrow brings.

finnbands: Will there be some possibility for a tour later on? Maybe you can already talk about 'where' and 'when'? We've read something about possible gigs in Germany as well...
Matthau: Too soon to promise anything... But everything is possible and when something happens I'll let you know.

finnbands: Have you played all recorded instruments on your upcoming album on your own? If not, who did it?
Matthau: I did all guitars, bass and vocals. S.Stenman took care of drums and Lex L. added some keys plus did some programming.

finnbands: For you personally there's probably a difference between your new stuff and the old material you have written for Bloodpit, but where do you draw the line? And do you think that those differences are obvious for the listeners?
Matthau: I am proud of Everything I have done this far and all of it is ME 100%. I have always written music the same way but of course the result differs from Bloodpit this time because those other three weren't there.

finnbands: Your new album will contain 11 songs.
Which means the most to you and why?
Which is the most unexpected and why?
Matthau: My favourites are Stiletto Heels, Then She Cried and
Too Fortunate to Cry... I really don't know why... I just love 'em.

finnbands: You have signed a record deal with Poko. Can you tell us more about the 'why' and 'how' of this cooperation?
Matthau: That was actually very natural. Besides I don't think my old partners would have shared the vision with me.

finnbands: What are your feelings nowadays when you look back to everything that has happend with Bloodpit in the last year?
Matthau: Well, I believe everything happens for a reason and I only care about what happens today and maybe tomorrow.

finnbands: Officially Bloodpit is still doing a break. Will there ever be a chance for a reunion or is Bloodpit history from your point of view?
Matthau: I don't see any reason for that.
